Portland! Beautiful rainy gray Portland!
I am now, yes, you guessed it, back in lovely Pacific Northwest Portland after a brief sojourn to nigh tropical southern California. Lawd, but I hate moving. Anyway, with internet set up and a basic stock of groceries, and I can start drawing and scanning again, hopefully. I will be returning to work which does cut somewhat into creative productivity but... eh... some of us like to eat, and have running water, and electricity... and the cats do complain so when I stop feeding them.

Don't talk to me about life.
So I'm not really around much. Working and being social will do that to you. But I am apparantly going to be in a gallery show in a few months so I need to get my ass into gear and make some stuff. I have a few ideas but so little time, and so many other things to do (laundry, anyone?).
So not that anyone cares but I might be back. Maybe. Or maybe not.

Christmas is Over

Well, okay, not really. But it's midday, it's essentially over. Except for all the returns in the next week. Phaugh.
Hey, so, like, I've been drawing and stuff. Somehow, when I neglect to sleep, I draw. How 'bout that. Loaded some stuff, cleaning up more.
See "Loving Annabelle." Buy it. Watch it. Love it. Cry at the end, and watch the sex scene over and over and over. Watch the happy ending in the bonus section, just 'cause, but believe in the original ending. I don't like the Love Conquers All version of "Brazil", and as much as I'd love Annabelle and Simone to make happy lesbian love forever and ever, it is so not likely. The original has angst. Yay for angst!
So I hope everybody got what they wanted on Happy Disposable Consumerism Day, and ate too much and took a nap and made a huge mess out of the wrapping paper. I never made it to bed but popped out for a bike ride this morning and had a huge breakfast. And I have cookies. Do YOU have cookies?

What a long, strange summer it's been

Yeah, so when I moved back to Portland it was supposed to be the start of this amazing drawing art kick kinda thing? Yeah, didn't happen. So now at the end of the summer (Really, be honest, it's fall, it's 40 °F out) and 8 months after I'd moved in, I finally set up my scanner and scanned less than half of what I'd produced. Yay! The other half still needs slight touch ups to be scannable. Somehow, when something is 80% done I lose all interest in it. Makes it a bitch to finish anything.
If all goes well, I'll continue to finish stuff, scan it, and load it. But I'm not holding my breath.

So, there's an update

Did I say November? I meant end of December. I lied.
Indeed, there is a new piece of art. Well, okay, I wouldn't really call it art. To be honest, it's a doodle. But I had fun with it, and I don't have a computer with the software I'm used to on it, so I can't actually scan anything worth loading, because it'd look crappy no matter what. I cannot believe the trouble I have had with the computer repair people getting my laptop back. It's outrageous. Hacks.
But there is a ton of new art that no one but me gets to see until that computer issue is resolved. Some of it is Christmas presents, and now that I'm thinking about it, I really need to actually finish a lot of those since Christmas is right around the freaking corner. Where does the time go?
The Death Valley was... spectacular. I have amazing photos, but because I didn't take them, I can't really post them here. But you can take my word for it. 126 miles, Lone Pine to Badwater. Absolutely fabulous.
Maybe I'll post new stuff around Christmas. Maybe not. Mua ha ha ha. I may get so fed up I'll just scan stuff regardless of how bad it actually looks. We'll see.
I do have a project, though. I just watched the miniseries "Dune" done in 2001 and it was so phenomenally bad that I thought it would be a great (INSANE!) idea to do a graphic novelization of it simply to have done freaking right. The Fremen can look like Fremen, not like bloated white people in the desert with facial tattoos; Jessica will be dark haired; Leto will have a proper hawk nose; the goddamn Padishah emperor will be TALL, thin, RED HAIRED, and dressed like a SAUDARKAR like he's supposed to be; and the worst, oh the worst was the Bene Gesserit... PLAIN BLACK ROBES, people! How hard? Annnnnyway. Dune done right, in comic form. My new project. I must be nuts.
Happy holidays, merry winter pagan solstice festival, etc, etc. Hope you all get lots of presents, eat yourselves sick, and sleep in the next day. Go easy on the rum balls and spiked nog.
